This Week:  After a lower start than previously, the markets made more or less steady growth progress toward the mid week and beyond, hitting a high point Thursday before some doubtful falls, recoveries followed by a small decline before Friday close. Markets still ended the week higher than at the start. FTSE 100 Peak: 5928.27; Trough: 5796.52

The Month: The high point over the last month was in fact this week’s Peak. The low point was 5740.52 at the start of October 2012. The FTSE 100 has improved over the last month, although it has experienced rises and falls before picking up again to its current position. Despite the rises and falls of this month, October has seen a general increase in the overall level compared to three months ago.
